This summer, my littles and I have experienced several out-of-the-park homerun outings together, taking part in so many incredible, fun opportunities. Sorry, but I just couldn’t avoid the baseball pun as I happily reminisce about the Washington Nationals Baseball Home Opener with Mayor Muriel Bowser!
D.C.’s Mayor, Muriel Bowser, graciously invited us to attend this event. Not only were we invited but Parker was asked to open the game with Mayor Bowser and shout, “Go, Nats! Play ball!” What a cool honor! As native Washingtonians, we love to root for the home team, and as a mama and avid adventure seeker, I love exposing Parker and Ava to new sports and environments. I can’t help but smile knowing they will one day look back on this memory with joy and gratitude.
We entered the field for the opening ceremonies, and that, in itself, was an awesome experience! Standing on the field and seeing Nationals Park from the perspective of the MLB players was incredible but, per usual, Parker was unbothered. We arrived to the Park early, and Parker’s main concern was the whereabouts of Mayor Bowser. So, Parker was super pleased when the Mayor arrived, as was I, which was a very special moment we shared with a compassionate, brilliant woman, a woman I hope Parker won’t ever forget.
We also had the opportunity to chat with Clinton Yates from ESPN’s The Undefeated. Clinton wrote a fantastic piece on Parker and our day at Nationals Park. We loved chatting with him! Definitely check out his blog, Twitter and Instagram when you have a moment. On our way out of Nationals Park we bumped into our favorite news anchor, Eun Yang!
The Washington Nationals organization was incredibly accommodating and generous, leaving a lasting impression in my heart and mind and the hearts of my daughters, too. They are such a classy organization, and I could not be more proud to be a fan of their wonderful club.
Mamas, the Nationals Park is not just the home to our beloved Nationals baseball team, but this is the space that hosts tons of events and concerts, too! Nationals Park is totally kid-friendly and stroller-friendly. There is a play area, nursing rooms, and family picnic area, too. If you happen to attend a baseball game, don’t forget to stay hydrated with lots of water! I hope you make sweet, lasting memories in Nationals Park the way my littles and I have together.
