Sunday Funday at Ballet Petite

My big girl loves all things ballet. She is very interested in learning the art of ballet and anything related to ballet. After taking creative movement dance classes at 18 months, she fell in love with the tutus, ballet slippers, leaps and turns. We just started another season of ballet classes but we were ecstatic to receive an invitation to a ballet birthday party at Ballet Petite in McLean, VA.

Parker and the birthday girl bonded almost instantly when they met in gymnastics class. They have the sweetest interaction and it makes me such a happy Mama to see them encourage and cheer each other on. When we discovered they had a shared obsession with all things ballet, it seemed that their toddler friendship was destined to be.

Ballet Petite is an adorable, intimate ballet studio with three different locations locally. We’ve been to many birthday parties (too many to count in the past three years and two parties this weekend alone) but this one was obviously our all time favorite. The birthday party leader started with some fun ballet instruction (sneakily disguised as games), read a story, then they dressed up as Elsa from Frozen, and put on an adorable performance before it was time to sing happy birthday and eat cake.

We headed into the party room which had the most dainty and precious long table with fine china (yes, you read it correctly-fine china) for the tea party. How many times have I said adorable already? It was adorable! After the sweet serenade of happy birthday by [nap-ready] toddlers, there was cake and tea (pink lemonade or water), and goody bags before hugs and goodbyes.

While we’ve had great experiences at the dance company we started with, we’re going to give Ballet Petite a try to see if it’s the studio to make our ballet home. The creative movement classes we’ve taken were the perfect introduction to ballet and developing body awareness but my big girl is definitely passionate about learning ballet specifically so we're ready for more traditional ballet instruction (that doesn’t require parent participation, lol). We’ll be sure to let you know how it goes but in the meantime, I listed some of the best local ballet and dance studios for babies and toddlers.
