Keeping It Spicy: Our Date Night Bucket List

April 27, 2018

Having children, especially two young children, can put a little damper on the romantic date nights that parents enjoyed and indulged in often pre-parenthood. Like many, we're still trying to find a good balance and ensure we take care of our relationship first so that we can parent successfully and be the best versions of ourselves for our little girls.

With that being said, when we have the opportunity to get out without the girls for a date night, we try to make the most of our alone time with interesting and not-so-ordinary 'dinner and a movie' dates. Here are some of our date night bucket list dates, one ultimate date night splurge and a cozy spot for you and your partner to unwind and relax on any day or night. I'm hoping we get to some of these soon, but I'm giving us until the end of the year!

The Date Night Bucket List

DinnerDate by Angel Anderson of The Spice Suite. DinnerDate provides custom in-home dining experiences to create the perfect date night without ever leaving your warm and cozy house. Owner and Chef Angel Anderson, prepares and serves Washington, D.C. metro area couples an intimate, gourmet dinner expertly curated to satisfy your taste buds. Also, be sure to stop by her one of a kind spice bar, The Spice Suite for all the infused honeys, marinades, and custom spice blends that your heart and mouth could ever desire.

iFly Indoor Skydiving. I've been wanting to try indoor skydiving for a couple of years now but I have a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old so you do the math, LOL. Now that I'm not pregnant and no longer have a newborn, I'm ready to embark on more physically challenging activities like this! There are tons of iFly locations with the closest two being located in Loundon County and Virginia Beach. Packages start around $80 per person.

District Winery at The Yards Park. District Winery, the District's first winery, is located in the heart of Navy Yard at The Yards Park along the picturesque Anacostia River. With prime rosé season around the corner, wine lovers will be ecstatic to know that Washingtonians will finally have a rosé to call our own. The wine is now available to taste, or for purchase by the glass or bottle in adjoining restaurant Ana. Enjoy a glass of D.C.'s own Rosé on the patio which opens during warm weather to overlook the water. Read more about their date night package which includes a winery tour, wine tasting and waterfront dining.

DC Improv. The comedy shows at this world family comedy club are sure to entertain on your next date night. DC Improv has hosted and attracts major comedians like Dave Chappelle and Ellen DeGeneres but also has an impressive roster of local talent who will definitely bring on the laughs. Check their schedule here for upcoming shows.

Artechouse in SW. Artechouse is an amazing immersive and interactive installation located in SW. It is D.C.'s first interactive digital art gallery and the girls and I have visited on numerous occasions since its inception a couple years ago. Although I've visited a few times, I've never been there on a date and I know it would be a great place for some quality time.

The Ultimate Date Night Splurge

The Four Seasons Spa By Night Experience is unlike any Spa package I've ever seen and I'd like to think I'm quite the Spa Connoisseur. You and your partner enjoy private after-hours access to the award winning luxury pool area where the space is transformed into your own private candle-lit spa. After your relaxing massages under the moonlight vaulted ceilings indulge in a poolside dining experience by Michael Mina. Take home two monogrammed robes to remember you magical evening. Contact The Four Seasons Spa Georgetown to make arrangements and for more information or call +1 (202) 342-0444.

Perfect For Any Date Day or Night

Last but not least, one of my favorite cozy places to enjoy a hand crafted cocktail, yummy salad, or delicious small plate is The Living Room at The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown in Washington, D.C. The Living Room is a warm, intimate space discreetly integrated into the lobby of the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown. Happy Hour is Monday through Friday from 5 pm until 7 pm. On Wednesdays, there is extended happy hour until 10 pm with a live DJ to help you unwind mid-week.
