“Whoever You Are” By Mem Fox was a birthday gift to Parker from our friend, Nina, who happens to be the CEO and creator of the Pee-Kaboo Reusable Potty-Training Sticker. If your little one is potty-training, do not hesitate to try Pee-Kaboo (simply stick the Pee-Kaboo reusable sticker on to a portable potty and a magical image will appear in their potty, visually rewarding your child for their efforts and encouraging them to use the potty again and by themselves).
So! About “Whoever You Are.” I was thrilled for Parker to receive a Reading Rainbow book. I grew up on Reading Rainbow, and I wish my kids were able to watch this program on TV! Mmm… perhaps I should explore YouTube and introduce this show to them. Did you watch Reading Rainbow as a kid? I digress…
“Whoever You Are” is children’s book royalty. I absolutely love the message that this book instills in children, lovingly sharing that we are all one family. In a world that is seemingly so divisive and, sadly, comfortable with dividing people by forcing them into categories (race, gender, class, and so forth), this book makes for a refreshing read, welcoming children as one in this world. Parker was tickled to read this book, noticing that all children may not look alike but on the inside, we are all the same. Extremely poignant. Definitely add “Whoever You Are” to your book collection. I think you will love it as much as me and my littles!
